The exhibition The Loyalists. 30 soldiers of the Republic in the covered cloister of the Monastery of San Juan of Burgos (Calle Vitoria, 33).
The exhibition is presented in Burgos during the Jornadas de Homenaje al General Domingo Batet (in the photo), grandfather of the president of the Congress of Deputies, Meritxell Batet, who fought against the declaration in 1934 of the Catalan State by the then president of the Generalitat, Luis Companys, and was shot by order of Francisco Franco for leading the Republican troops.
The Fundación Pablo Iglesias, in collaboration with the General Secretariat of Defence Policy of the Ministry of Defence, has produced the exhibition which presents the personal journey of 30 professional soldiers who maintained their commitment of loyalty to the Republic, suffering the consequences: prison, execution or exile. All of them were expelled from the army, falling into a state of oblivion that this exhibition aims to alleviate.
