The Dominican Republic will host from tomorrow the congress of the Business Council Alliance for Ibero-America (CEAPI), the most important international business meeting in the Ibero-American space and which will be held this year for the first time outside Spain under the theme Innovation and opportunities in times of uncertainty.
The V CEAPI Congress will take place on June 1 and 2 at the Punta Cana Resort & Club and, so far, the President of the Dominican Republic, Luis Abinader; the Dominican Minister of Industry, Commerce and Mipymes, Víctor Ito Bisonó; the Ibero-American Secretary General (SEGIB), Andrés Allamand; and the General Business Director of BID Invest, Gema Sacristán, have already confirmed their presence at the Punta Cana Resort & Club. CEAPI will be represented by its president, Núria Vilanova; the honorary president, Enrique V. Iglesias; the international honorary president, Valentín Díez Morodo; and the president of the V Congress, the Dominican Felipe Vicini.
The previous CEAPI congress – an association formed by 190 Ibero-American businessmen – was held in Madrid in May 2021, inaugurated by the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, and closed by the King. The celebration in the Dominican Republic comes just a few months before this country hosts, next November, the XXVIII Ibero-American Summit of Heads of State and Government.
This year, the event will host presidents of leading companies and business families from Ibero-America in the Dominican Republic. The Congress, which for the first time will be held outside Spain, will focus on the paramount importance of innovation, digitalization and technology to drive sustained and sustainable growth in Ibero-America, and on the importance and opportunities generated by new business models, without forgetting the analysis of the current economic, commercial, business and investment situation in the region. “CEAPI thus fulfills one of its dreams: to hold the most important business meeting of Ibero-America in Latin America,” the organization said.
The congress includes panels, talks and participations by the most important Ibero-American businessmen, which will examine the future scenarios facing Ibero-America, incorporating topics for debate such as digitalization, entrepreneurship and family businesses, the role of tourism in the region’s growth, the recent energy crisis and the role of companies in developing countries throughout the territory, among others. In addition, at the end of the first day, a dinner will be held in honor of Colombian businessman and banker Jaime Gilinski, winner of the VIII Enrique V. Iglesias Award for Ibero-American Business Development, with the participation of Núria Vilanova and Ito Bisonó.
Among the businessmen attending will be Frank Rainieri, founder of Grupo Puntacana (Dominican Republic); Stanley Motta, president of Copa Holdings (Panama); Felipe Vicini, president of INICIA (Dominican Republic); Juana Barceló, president of Barrick Gold Corporation (Dominican Republic); Jaime Gilinski, president of Grupo Gilinski (Colombia); Omar González, president of Grupo Trinity (Colombia); María José Álvarez, president of Grupo Eulen (Spain); Juan Luis Cebrián, honorary president of the newspaper El País (Spain); Daniela Braga, founder and CEO of Defined. ai (Portugal); and Amancio López Seijas, president of HOTUSA (Spain).
