This evening at 6 p.m., the Instituto Francés in Madrid is screening the animated film Les Contes de la nuit (Tales of the Night), directed by Michel Ocelot.
Following in the wake of the television special of the same title broadcast in 1992, ‘Les contes de la nuit’ brings together six short stories presented, this time, in three dimensions. Based on animated silhouettes, director Michel Ocelot brings together the following stories: “The Werewolf”; “Tijean and the Unknown Beauty”; “The Chosen of the Golden City”; “The Little Drummer Boy”; “The Boy Who Never Lied”; and “The Rabbit Girl and the Architect’s Son”.
Michel Ocelot is a French writer and film director who became known for his animated films, such as Kiriku and the Witch (1998) and Azur and Asmar (2006). In addition, his works have won several awards, including one for best film at the Chicago International Children’s Film Festival for Kiriku and the Wild Beasts and another at the Sitges Festival for Tales of the Night (2011).
