The Diplomat
The Embassy of Paraguay in Spain celebrated last Saturday in Valencia the central act commemorating the 211th anniversary of the Independence of the Paraguayan Republic.
The event, which was chaired by the Paraguayan Ambassador in Madrid, Ricardo Scavone, took place in the Municipal Sports Foundation of Valencia, with the collaboration of the Consulate General of Paraguay in Barcelona and also served for the inauguration of the new Honorary Consul of Paraguay in the Valencian Community, Claudio Chaqués.
There are about 10,000 Paraguayans living in the Valencian Community, which is why the Embassy decided to commemorate the National Day of Paraguay in Valencia, with various celebrations in which guest musicians performed with harps, guitars, songs and dances typical of the country.
In addition, the ambassador expressed his satisfaction at being able to celebrate this celebration in Valencia and the Spanish writer José V. Peiró referred to his beginnings with Paraguayan literature with a talk entitled “A Spaniard in Paraguayan Literature”. In addition, throughout the afternoon of the 14th there was an exhibition of books, handicrafts, gastronomy and an exhibition of Paraguayan entrepreneurship in the Valencian Community.
The previous day, a floral offering was also held in Madrid’s Retiro Park in front of the monument to Marshal Francisco Serrano López, which was also attended by the Paraguayan ambassador.
