Author: Ivan Jablonka.
The spanish edition of History of the grandparents I never had, by the writer Ivan Jablonka, was presented yesterday at La Central bookshop in Callao. This evening at 7.30 pm, together with the writer Antonio J. Rodríguez, at the Theatre of the French Institute in Madrid, he will discuss the new masculinities, based on their respective books Hombres justos and La nueva masculinidad de siempre.
The story of the author’s grandparents, who died in Auschwitz, is used to reconstruct the turbulent Europe of the first half of the 20th century. In this search for their ancestors, letters and documents are recovered, testimonies of those who knew them are collected, archives and libraries are researched… From all this emerges the portrait of two characters, two people of flesh and blood, and also of a very convulsive period in European history, shaken by the First World War, Stalinism, the Second World War and the Holocaust.
