Indra has been awarded a EUR 24 million contract in Israel for the design, supply, installation, commissioning and maintenance for ten years of the most advanced dynamic toll technology in the new lanes of Highway 20, which connects Tel Aviv (Israel’s capital city) with the rest of the country, according to the company.

In a statement issued on Thursday, Indra said the contract was awarded by DAN Public Transportation Ltd, the company responsible for public transport in Israel, following the collaboration between the two companies to win the ‘Fast Lanes’ project.

Indra will equip the Ayalon highway, Israel’s busiest road section, with its ‘Mova Collect’ toll solution with deep learning and automatic detection of high occupancy vehicles. Specifically, Indra will implement 80 free-flow gantries, which allow cars to pass through without having to slow down, and an operational back office platform, which allows real-time configuration of trips and adjustment of rates according to traffic.

ndra’s technology will detect traffic intensity in real time and identify the type of vehicle, the number of occupants or other variables to calculate the fare dynamically. The objective is to become “an advanced tool” to promote the use of shared vehicles and free electric public buses, operated by DAN Public Transportations.

In this way, Indra’s solution will contribute to reduce traffic jams in “one of the most congested roads in Israel”, as well as polluting emissions and “enable more efficient, safe and sustainable mobility”.

The capabilities of Indra’s solution have enabled the company to implement this technology in the United States, where it operates on the busy Interstate 66 highway, as well as to develop projects in other countries such as Canada, Mexico, Chile, Colombia, the Philippines and Portugal.
