This evening at 8 p.m., the Instituto Italiano de Cultura in Madrid continues the series of events in the Historias de Italia review, with the screening of the film Il partigiano Johnny, directed by Guido Chiesa.
Presented in competition on 4 September 2000 at the Venice Film Festival and in Italian cinemas on 17 November 2000, the film is based on the novel of the same name by Beppe Fenoglio and was a project much desired by the director. Johnny, an English literature student, returns to Alba after September 8th. Abandoning his studies to fight against the fascist regime, he begins his journey alone in the Langhe, where he coincidentally joins the Garibaldi battalion. The life of the partisan is very different from the poetic adventure he had imagined. At the end of the winter he will be one of the few survivors… Original version with English subtitles. Free admission, with prior reservation request, writing to susi.baldasseroni@esteri.it and indicating name, surname and telephone contact of all persons for whom the reservation is requested and in the subject “11 May”.
