Debate at Instituto Francés: ‘Human being, an animal like any other?’
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

On the occasion of the publication in Spain of Reparemos el mundo: Humanos, animales, naturaleza (Ned ediciones 2022, translation by Sion Serra), the philosopher Corine Pelluchon (pictured), a specialist in environmental ethics and ethical philosophy, will debate with the anthropologist Juan Luis Arsuaga on the representations we have of our place and the role of human being in nature. Adeline Marcos, science journalist at the SINC agency, will moderate the event.

Who are we, where do we come from, what are we doing here? The classic philosophical questions of the human species are now complemented by another that is occupying more and more space in political reflection: what is our relationship with other animal species and, above all, what should it be? Ethical philosophy and the history of human being, through anthropology, can provide us with avenues for reflection: awareness of the links that have united us with other living beings since time immemorial can finally encourage us to undertake a true political ecology and “repair the world”. The event will take place on tomorrow Tuesday at 8 p.m. at the Instituto Francés in Madrid. In French and Spanish with simultaneous translation. Free entrance until full capacity is reached.
