Spain yesterday strongly condemned “the brutal attack” perpetrated in Somalia by the terrorist group Al Shabab against the base of the African Union Transition Mission, ATMIS, in Ceel Baraf, Middle Shabelle, where the Burundian contingent was stationed.
In a statement, the Government of Spain conveyed “its sincere condolences to the Government of Burundi and the families of the deceased” and expressed the wish that the wounded recover as soon as possible. “Spain reaffirms its support for Somalia in the fight against terrorism and also wishes to show its appreciation for the efforts of the African Union and the African countries participating in ATMIS to contribute to the security of Somalia and the Horn of Africa,” it concluded.
