Filarmonía de Madrid recovers Carl Off’s original ‘Carmina Burana’
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

On May 4th at 7.30 p.m., Filarmonía de Madrid presents at the Auditorio Nacional de Música the masterpiece by the composer Carl Off, Carmina Burana, in its original version and under the baton of conductor Pascual Osa, a year after the Orquesta y Coro performed a groundbreaking version of the work, with two pianos, percussion and choir.

The first part of the programme will feature the work Entre el recuerdo y la esperanza, a tribute to the victims of Covid-19 by the composer Zulema de la Cruz. The soloists in the concert will be Rebeca Cardiel (soprano), Christian Gil-Borrelli (countertenor) and Enrique Sánchez-Ramos (baritone).

In the second part of the concert, the Orchestra will be joined by the almost 400 choristers that make up the Coro Filarmonía, the Coro Participativo and the Coro del Colegio Sámer Calasanz, and will perform the scenic cantata that brings together a collection of medieval poems from the 12th and 13th centuries, whose authors were students and clerics. The unmistakable chords of Carmina Burana will provoke a triumphal entry of sound into the Symphonic Hall, silencing an expectant audience and its performers who will await with intrigue the outcome of one of the most reproduced stories in the world since its premiere in 1937.
