The situation of the Monarchy and the State of Autonomies in Spain were discussed in a new session of The Diplomat in Spain’s Tertulias, which featured journalist José Antonio Zarzalejos, former editor of ABC and El Correo and regular columnist for El Confidencial.

The Tertulia held on Tuesday at the Hotel Meliá Madrid Serrano, sponsored by Hospitales de Madrid, was attended by ambassadors and other diplomats from various embassies accredited in our country.

Zarzalejos analysed the results of the autonomous model in Spain established in the 1978 Constitution and the challenges it faces, with special reference to Catalonia. Likewise, in response to questions from the audience, the journalist expressed his opinions on the situation of the Monarchy in Spain, a subject to which he has devoted numerous articles.

The Diplomat’s Tertulias, which began to be held in 2015, take place every month to discuss different aspects of Spanish politics, economy and society. Aimed at foreign diplomats in Madrid, they take place in a reduced format, under the condition of strict confidentiality of what is discussed in the room.
