The fight against climate change and the quest for zero net greenhouse gas emissions in cities through citizen participation are the main issues this year in the new edition of the Taiwan Presidential Hackathon, a marathon competition aimed at computer programmers from all over the world.
It is an initiative launched in 2018 by the Presidential Office of the Republic of China (Taiwan), with the intention of fostering collaboration between data owners, data scientists and field experts to find solutions to common problems with the help of technology and innovative ideas.
This year’s event aims to bring software developers from around the world to Taiwan to generate, through citizen participation, technology and the use of open data, solutions to city problems in the context of climate action, faced with the challenge of achieving zero net greenhouse gas emissions.
Those interested in participating must submit their proposals in teams of a maximum of five members, and these will be evaluated on the basis of three criteria: social impact (40%), innovation (30%) and feasibility (30%). To apply, the documentation, written in English, must be submitted by 23 May 2022. The finalist teams that will take part in the competition will be announced in June.
