The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is going to grant a maximum of 600,000 euros to subsidize outreach, education or communication activities that help to involve Spanish society in the challenges of the Spanish Presidency of the EU, which will take place in the second half of 2023.

The Official State Gazette (BOE) published in early April the extract of a resolution of the Secretary of State for the European Union -signed last March 29 by the Secretary of State, Pascual Navarro– announcing the call for the granting of aid or subsidies corresponding to the year 2022 to finance the holding of outreach, research, participation, education or communication activities on the European Union that take place during the year 2022.

According to the full text of the resolution, “during the second half of 2023 Spain will assume the presidency of the Council of the EU, so this call will especially value those initiatives aimed at contributing to the preparation of the Spanish Presidency and the participation of Spanish society in the challenges that this entails”.

Therefore, “emphasis will be placed on the political priorities defined in the European Commission’s Strategic Agenda, which must be included in the legislative program of the Spanish Presidency, as well as on the priorities for Europe of the Spanish External Action Strategy 2021-24”, in addition to “the conclusions of the Conference on the Future of Europe”. Finally, the enhancement of the participation of Spanish civil society in the European Year of Youth will also be valued.

The funding of the grants is set at a maximum total amount of 600,000 euros, distributed among all the successful applicants. Any individual or legal entity not belonging to the public sector and legally constituted, which can prove that its activity is not for profit, in addition to complying with its tax and Social Security obligations, and that it has the means and capacity to carry out the activities and guarantee the fulfillment of the objectives, may apply for these grants.

Recipients of grants under this call may undertake events, online actions, dissemination activities and carry out reports, studies and educational initiatives related to any of the priorities. In carrying out activities, formats that take into account the geographical diversity of Spain will be encouraged, so that the exercise of reflection covers the widest possible spectrum of Spanish citizenship.
