People’s Party has requested the appearance in Congress of the President of the Government, Pedro Sanchez, to explain the details of the agreement he signed last week with the King of Morocco, Mohamed VI, as well as the “serious consequences” that his turn on Western Sahara is already bringing, according to the ‘popular’, in relations with Algeria.

This was announced yesterday by the party’s secretary general and spokeswoman in Congress, Cuca Gamarra, echoing Algeria’s decision to increase the sale of gas to Italy from next year to reduce its dependence on Russian gas.

“Sanchez’s turn to foreign policy without support from Congress already has serious consequences in our relationship with Algeria,” denounced Gamarra in a Twitter message, picked up by Europa Press.

In this context, the first opposition party calls for the urgent appearance of Sanchez before the Plenary of Congress “to account for the issues addressed in his trip to Morocco” last week.

Asked about the increase in the price of Algerian gas and the agreement reached by this country with Italy, the Government spokeswoman, Isabel Rodríguez, insisted yesterday that Algeria is “a strategic partner”, that Spain has guaranteed the supply of the African country and that the situation of Italy “is not comparable” to that of our country in terms of dependence on gas from Russia.
