Acciona Energía is in advanced talks with one of the world’s leading energy and technology companies, based in China, to promote a battery manufacturing and lithium mining project in Spain.
This was announced by its chairman, José Manuel Entrecanales, during his speech at the ordinary general meeting of shareholders, held yesterday at first call with a quorum of 94.1% of the capital, which approved all proposals with more than 92% support, reports Europa Press.
“We are in advanced talks with one of the world’s leading energy-technology companies to promote a revolutionary project in Spain for the manufacture of batteries and lithium mining,” he said.
In his speech, the chairman of Acciona Energía criticised “the absence of robust multilateralism”, pointing out that countries are “victims of political short-termism” and that they act under “the influence of large conventional energy groups”, all of which hinders progress towards renewables.
Entrecanales also referred to the current economic and political situation, admitting “worrying tensions in the supply chain” and the generalised rise in prices, although he assured that the company is facing this challenge thanks to its “geographical and market diversification and the credibility it brings to its partners and suppliers”.
Regarding the situation in Ukraine, where the company has three 100 MW photovoltaic plants, the CEO, Rafael Mateo, reported that one of them is out of operation due to damage to the evacuation line and that the others continue to operate, although in a very limited way and in accordance with the indications of the Ukrainian regulator at all times.
