Porcelanosa considers that the “misunderstanding” with Ukraine caused by the words of the Ukrainian president, Volodimir Zelenski before the Congress of Deputies, asking several Spanish companies “to stop doing business with Russia” has been rectified.

In a note issued by Porcelanosa, it is reported that its vice-president, Silvestre Segarra, met yesterday with the Ukrainian ambassador to Spain, Serhii Pohoreltsev, to discuss in a close and transparent manner everything related to the strategic position of the company in Russia since the invasion of Ukraine by that country.

The company says that the meeting was “very positive and fruitful” because “the dialogue between the parties has been strengthened and the initial misunderstandings about information have been corrected”.

The company’s management has reiterated that Porcelanosa’s products are distributed through multi-brand agents, that there is no network of its own shops in Russia and that all commercial activity in the country has been paralysed.

Among the humanitarian aid that Porcelanosa devised to respond to the immediate effects of the war is the shipment of sanitary, food and basic necessities to Ukrainian families. These actions are continuing and will be intensified together with the refugee aid plan that includes the protection and sustenance of seven people from Ukraine, the letter adds.

Porcelanosa is satisfied with the response given by the Ukrainian government representatives in Spain. It also hopes for and defends a peaceful solution that will put an end to the violence against the Ukrainian people.
