Tomorrow Tuesday at 20:00, the Instituto Francés of Madrid will be previewing the film Arde Notre Dame (Notre-Dame brûle), directed by Jean-Jacques Annaud and starring Élodie Navarre, Chloé Jouannet, Jesuthasan Antonythasan and Kevin Garnichat, among others.
With a screenplay by Jean-Jacques Annaud and Thomas Bidegain, this film recreates the fire at Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris in April 2019. The virulent fire caused its iconic spire, built between the 12th and 14th centuries, and the roof of the French capital’s Gothic cathedral to collapse and collapse just one hour after the fire broke out. The foundation stone of the cathedral was laid in 1163 and since its completion Notre Dame has been a symbol of Catholicism, the Parisian skyline and one of the most visited monuments in the world with around 13 million visitors a year.
