The exhibition hall of the Instituto Cervantes is hosting until 29 May the exhibition Próximo destino: Carmen Laforet, co-organised by the Instituto Cervantes and Acción Cultural Española (AC/E), in collaboration with the Biblioteca Nacional de España and the Dirección General del Libro y Fomento a la Lectura.
The exhibition is designed as a journey through the life, work and legacy of Carmen Laforet and is organised into six stages, which provide an insight into the inner world and the external projection of this unique writer, the scope of her work both within and beyond our borders, her personal and professional friendships, her modernity and the relevance of her literary output.
Carmen Laforet (1921-2004) managed to conquer millions of readers from all eras and continents with a voice that shines beyond the sphere that marked the appearance of Nada: Spain in the immediate post-war period. She had the audacity to raise her voice in a preponderantly male literary world, opening up a path in Spanish narrative whose keys consist of naturalness, the ability to construct dialogues and reflect the psychology of characters with which to bring to life the contradictions of the human heart.
