Spain strongly condemns the new attacks carried out last Friday by Houthi militias on Jeddah and various points in Saudi Arabia, which have put the lives of civilians at risk, according to a Foreign Ministry note released yesterday.
The insurgents launched about a dozen missile and drone attacks on Saudi state oil company Aramco’s facilities inside the country as part of a “deep offensive” in retaliation for the Arab kingdom’s participation in the international operation against the rebels.
Huthi military spokesman Yahya Sarea claimed on behalf of the movement, among other bombings, the “hostile attack” confirmed on Friday by the oil company in the city of Jeddah, about ten kilometres from the La Corniche Formula One circuit, where the country’s grand prix is being held this weekend.
“All these attacks are unacceptable and threaten regional stability and must cease immediately,” the note said.
Spain reiterates its full support for the search for a political solution to the conflict in Yemen, through the efforts of UN Special Envoy Hans Grundberg and the Gulf Cooperation Council initiative, the note concludes.
