Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez revealed yesterday from Romania that Spain has already imposed sanctions on real estate and interests of Russian oligarchs in our country.
During a joint appearance with the Romanian president, Kalus Iohannis, Sánchez highlighted the “unity” in the sanctions that have been imposed on Russia and the oligarchs and assured that they will be applied. He said that in the case of Spain, “tough sanctions” are already being applied to “interests and real estate” of the Russian oligarchy in our country.
So far, the government had made public the blocking of three yachts belonging to Russian tycoons. On Tuesday, the immobilisation of the ‘Lady Anastasia’, in Port Adriano, in Calvià (Mallorca), and another yacht in the Port of Barcelona, the ‘Valerie’, was announced. Both are flagged in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.
The yacht ‘Valerie’ is a private pleasure boat of 85 metres in length. The ‘Lady Anastasia’, immobilised in Mallorca, is 48 metres long and has a beam of 9 metres. The investigation suggests that the latter is owned by the Russian oligarch Alexander A. Mikheev, European sources confirmed to Europa Press.
The Official Journal of the EU states that Alexander Mikheev is president and executive director of Rosoboronexport, Russia’s only official state intermediary for the export and import of military and dual-use products, technologies and services.
In addition, on Wednesday the ‘Crescent’ was temporarily immobilised, docked in the port of Tarragona and which could belong to Igor Sechin, CEO of a Russian oil company included among those sanctioned by the European Union and very close to Vladimir Putin, according to police sources, as reported to Europa Press. This yacht is flagged in the Cayman Islands and is 135 metres long and 21 metres wide.
