‘Migraaantes’, a black comedy about migration at the Instituto Francés
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

In collaboration with the Instituto Francés, the Instituto Cultural Rumano of Madrid presents, under the auspices of the Romanian Embassy, and in the framework of the Francophonie, the play Migraaantes, by Matei Vișniec, next Thursday, 10 March, at 8 pm, at the Instituto Francés of Madrid, with the presence of the author for a Q&A at the end of the performance.

Migraaantes is a black comedy about the great tragedy of our time, migration, written by the Romanian-French Matei Vișniec and translated into Spanish by Evelio Miñano Martínez, from the comedy “Migraaaantes o sobra gente en este puto barco o el salón de la alambrada”.

On board a boat with “too many people”, different characters embark on a colourful but eventful journey with the audience: migrants from all over the world, traffickers, politicians, artists and presenters of the so-called “Salón de la Alambrada”. Absurdity and irony confront the tragic reality of migration. It is the cry of millions of people who dream of a better world. The reality is stark: 70.8 million people have been forced to flee because of war, violence and gross violations of their fundamental rights. This is the highest number ever recorded since World War II. BarLovento Teatro is staging this play, with young actors and actresses from the Gazte Konpainia of Pabellón 6, directed by Beatriz Velilla, and with the collaboration of the Spanish Commission for Refugee Aid (CEAR). Tickets can be purchased at this link.
