Popular music of Eastern Mediterranean with Christos Kanellos Malamas

In collaboration with the Greek Community of Alicante and in the framework of the series Music in the Mediterranean, Casa Mediterráneo (Antigua Estación de Benalúa – Plaza del arquitecto Miguel López) presents next Friday at 19:00 a concert of popular songs and rhythms of the Eastern Mediterranean with the musician of Greek origin Christos Kanellos Malamas.

 

This Athenian musician, whose knowledge covers different musical fields of both Eastern and Western music, specialises in Byzantine liturgical chant, rebetic, modal and Sephardic chant, Eastern plucked string instruments, classical guitar and musical improvisation. He is also a music teacher and instrument maker.

 

Doors will open at 18:15. Access to the public will close ten minutes before the start of the session. Admission is limited to the capacity of the hall.
