The president of the Xunta de Galicia and leader of the Partido Popular de Galicia (PPdeG), Alberto Núñez Feijóo, confirmed yesterday that he will opt to lead the PP at the extraordinary congress in Seville on 1 and 2 April, which will put an end to the period of Pablo Casado after the open war with the president of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso.
“If there is one thing I have no doubt about, it is that the PP has a great future ahead of it. We will do what we have to do, we will recover and we will be the PP that Spain is waiting for”, said Feijóo during the Board of Directors of the Galician PP, to which he asked for “authorisation” to present his candidacy for the Presidency of the PP.
He takes the step acclaimed by the main voices of the national PP and after stating himself that he would do whatever his party “asked” him to do. He does so, moreover, one day after celebrating 13 years of victory, which on 1 March 2009 returned the Xunta to the PPdeG after a legislature in opposition.
