Between today and tomorrow, Casa Árabe is holding the fifth edition of the East-West February International Poetry Festival (FIFP), coordinated by the Iraqi-born poet Abdul Hadi Sadoun, which will be dedicated to the encounter between East and West. Twenty-two poets from Argentina, Colombia, Cuba, Chile, China, Spain, Iraq, Morocco, Nepal, New Zealand, Peru, Serbia, Syria and Uruguay will take part.
This year’s 2022 edition will feature the female poetic voice, represented by Enheduana, Mesopotamian writer, considered the oldest known poet in history and “High Priestess” in the temple of the god Nannar (the Moon).
This afternoon at 6 p.m. at Casa Árabe’s Madrid headquarters, Maram al-Masri (Syria), Paloma Chen (Spain-China), Juan Carlos de Sancho (Canary Islands-Spain), Muhamed al-Amin (Iraq-Netherlands), Itisha Giri (Nepal), Dusica Nikolic Dann (Serbia), Alfredo Pérez Alencart (Peru-Spain), Silvia Cuevas Morales (Chile), Marta López Vilar (Spain), Salma Bechar Aatif (Morocco), Pedro Enríquez (Spain), Emma Romeu Riaño (Cuba-USA). There will also be music and performance by Marisa Cortés (Argentina) and video poems by Charles Olsen (New Zealand) and Lilian Pallares (Colombia).
Tomorrow Saturday at 7 p.m., at the Espacio Ronda in Madrid (Ronda de Segovia 50), it will be the turn of Ismaël Diadié Haïdara (Timbuktu, Mali), Leo Zelada (Peru), José Manuel Lucía Mejías (Spain), Juan C. Tajes (Uruguay), Hussein Nhaba (Iraq), Malak Mustafa (Syria), Aída Acosta (Spain), Yeison F. García (Colombia), Feli Moreno (Spain), Virginia Fernández Collado (Spain), Marta Mar (Spain), Sanae Mokaddim (Morocco), Pío Serrano (Cuba). There will be music and performance by Mayte Domínguez, performer – Pablo Bethencourt, piano and composition (Grupo Retablo poesía y música), and video poems by various authors (Homage to Abbas Kiarostami). All these events are in collaboration with CIHAR, Poéticas de la Modernidad, Antena Blue, Fundación Alulbeyt España, Asociación Alrokon Alarabe, Culture Lazuli and Haiku Festival The Hague.
