The Sociedad de Conciertos La Filarmónica presents the Vienna Symphony Orchestra on Wednesday 2 March at 19.30 at the Auditorio Nacional de Música in Madrid, performing Ludwig van Beethoven’s Violin Concerto in D major, op. 61 and Symphony No. 7 in A major, op. 92.
Beethoven lived in Vienna for 35 years and composed most of his extraordinary work there. His physical ailments and numerous disappointments in love conditioned his life and gave rise to an unstable personality, which led him, among other things, to move house more than 80 times. The memory of his wandering soul remained in all the homes where he lived and his brilliant work became part of the history of this city, which was overturned at his funeral with a massive demonstration of mourning. To have the Vienna Symphony Orchestra perform a programme dedicated to Beethoven is to recall the spirit of the Austrian capital and the soul of this composer. The concert will feature conductor Andrés Orozco-Estrada and violinist Vilde Frang. Tickets can be purchased at this link.
