The Oficina Económica y Cultural de Taipéi in Spain, in collaboration with the Taiwanese art gallery “Yiri Arts”, is organising the Taiwan Art Week in Madrid from 23 to 27 February, which will showcase the personal work of two Taiwanese artists with very different styles: The poetic concept of Wang Yu-song’s video art, and the imaginary world of Chang Teng-yuan, who takes a very particular approach to the great classics of painting, among them Francisco de Goya’s The 3rd of May Firing Squad and Velázquez’s Las Meninas (in the photo).
Chang Teng-yuan’s “Parrot Man” project, in which the artist turns characters from well-known classics into human-like parrots on landscapes and colourful motifs, will be on display at ART MADRID from 23 to 27 February. And Wang Yu-song’s “Hualien White Lighthouse”, a poetic and timeless vision of what the artist sees as the site of a now-destroyed old lighthouse in Hualien harbour, will be on show at Hybrid Art Fair from 25 to 27 February. The public will be able to view the works of the Taiwanese artists and obtain limited bags in the exhibition area on presentation of admission tickets for both fairs.
