Author: María Luisa de la Puerta.
Tomorrow, Thursday, Centro Sefarad-Israel will present the novel Movidos por los hilos (Pulled by the Threads), set between Spain and Israel, with the presence of its author María Luisa de la Puerta and the director of the Shalom Programme, Coty Aserín. Limited capacity. It is necessary to confirm attendance via this link.
María Luisa de la Puerta presents her new novel, this time with a Jewish theme. A series of synchronicities lead the characters to consider issues such as falling out of love, political convictions about Zionism in confrontation with personal life and literary creation. At the same time, spirituality is present in the story of the Dead Sea Scrolls, the leitmotif in the life of one of the characters.
An intimate novel, it narrates the spiritual journey of a man in search of answers. An indecisive character, he allows himself to be guided by destiny, which takes him first to Paris and then to Jerusalem, where he is confronted with the terrible conflict between Jews and Palestinians and even with the old Dead Sea Scrolls. He will find himself involved in a plot that is not his own, but which nevertheless awakens his dormant self and revives the forgotten echo of his old beliefs. In the distance, his love for Elisa, whom he has just lost, will grow stronger. All this is intertwined with the memories of a Jew who lived through the horrors of the Second World War and who will cross his life from different angles. Fate will move the characters like puppets, playing cat and mouse with them, bringing them closer and moving them apart in a way that might seem capricious, but which, nevertheless, obeys a perfectly laid out plan.
