The Secretary of State for Trade, the CEOE and the Spanish Chamber of Commerce will organize next Tuesday, February 15, the Spain-Dominican Republic Business Summit, which will bring together companies and institutions from both countries and will coincide with the visit to Spain of the Dominican Minister of Industry, Trade and MSMEs, Víctor Ito Bisonó.

The meeting will be inaugurated by the Secretary of State for Commerce, Xiana Méndez; the president of CEOE, Antonio Garamendi; the general director of the Spanish Chamber of Commerce, Inmaculada Riera; and the president of the Council of Ibero-American Businessmen-CEIB and of the Employers’ Confederation of the Dominican Republic-COPARDOM, William Matías Ramírez. Minister Ito Bisonó will close the event.

The Business Summit will take place at the CEOE headquarters in Madrid at five o’clock in the afternoon and will bring together, in person and virtually, businessmen from the two countries and the Dominican Republic’s business institutions and organizations that make up the Follow-up Committee for the work leading up to the XIV Ibero-American Business Meeting, to be held on the island within the framework of the XXVIII Ibero-American Summit. The Follow-up Committee was created during the meeting of Foreign Ministers held in Santo Domingo at the end of November and the meeting in Madrid will make it possible to analyze the importance of the Ibero-American Business Meeting, which will be jointly organized by the CEIB and the Ibero-American General Secretariat (SEGIB).

After this business meeting, Bisonó -who will be accompanied by a delegation formed by the Vice Minister for Economic Affairs and International Cooperation, Hugo Rivera, and the Vice Minister of Foreign Trade, Vilma Arbaje- will take advantage of his presence in Spain to meet with Spanish authorities at the highest level “in order to strengthen bilateral relations and analyze possibilities of cooperation in projects of common interest”, according to the CEOE in a press release.

The business meeting will include a discussion on The future of Spain-Dominican Republic relations from the perspective of business organizations, moderated by the economic and commercial counselor of Spain in the Dominican Republic, Clara Fernández, and the general director of CEOE International and permanent secretary of CEIB, Narciso Casado, with the participation of the presidents of the Dominican Association of Exporters (ADOEXPO), Elisabeth Mena, and of the Association of Industries of the Dominican Republic (AIRD), Celso Juan Marranzini; and the vice presidents of the National Council of Private Enterprise (CONEP), César R. Dargam, and of the Chamber of Commerce of the Dominican Republic, Celso Juan Marranzini. Dargam, and of the Chamber of Commerce and Production of Santo Domingo (CCPSD), Lucile Houellemont.
