This evening at 8 p.m., the theatre of the Instituto Francés in Madrid is previewing the latest film by Belgian director Joachim Lafosse, An Uneasy Love, in competition for the Feature Film category at the Cannes Film Festival in 2021 and in the Perlak section of the San Sebastian Festival.
The film is about Leïla and Damien, who love each other madly. Both struggle to keep the family together despite Damien’s bipolarity. Neither gives up, even though he knows he can never give her what she wants.
After graduating from the Institut des Arts de la Diffusion in 2001, Joachim Lafosse already made a name for himself when he won the award for best short film at the Namur Film Festival that same year for his graduation film, Tribe. His career as a filmmaker began in 2004 when he directed his first feature film, Folie privée, the story of a painful marital separation. In just a few years he has built up a substantial filmography. Tickets can be purchased at this link.
