The Minister of Foreign Affairs, José Manuel Albares, took advantage of his presence in Tegucigalpa, where he accompanied the King at the inauguration of the new president of Honduras, Xiomara Castro, to maintain contacts with several of his Ibero-American colleagues.
According to what Albares himself announced on his Twitter account, he met with Enrique Reina, future Minister of Foreign Affairs of Honduras, “to strengthen the bilateral relationship”. Albares added that they had discussed the vaccination against COVID-19 and stressed that Spain is the third largest donor to Honduras and that it is committed to continue supporting the country in the vaccination process.
He also met with the Bolivian Foreign Minister, Rogelio Mayta, with whom he discussed the fight against the pandemic, cooperation and the situation in the region. The Minister indicated that Spain has delivered two million vaccines to Bolivia and pointed out that he is working with that country in the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Indigenous Fund.
He also met with his Panamanian counterpart, Eryka Mouynes, to whom he conveyed Spain’s willingness to continue strengthening collaboration to address the main regional challenges in Central America. “We want to strengthen our bilateral cooperation in all areas,” said Albares.
