From 22 January to 27 February, the Bastardo Hostel in Madrid (Calle San Mateo, 3) presents the exhibition Barks. From the 1st to the 21st century. Stories about the human condition, an interaction between nature and human beings created and conceived by the artist Mujer Corteza.
This exhibition emerges as a response to the need for contact with nature that we have all felt since COVID-19 made its appearance and confined us within four walls, and as a way of valuing nature as heritage, intrahistory and artistic material. Mujer Corteza is a composition based on pain; it is the materialisation of the author’s discontent, but also the potential of beauty and the possibility of dissidence with respect to the normative. Mujer Corteza is a three-dimensional and sustainable collage generated from tree bark and shavings, palm hair and paper. Sometimes also from leaves, pine cones and tulle. All the information about the exhibition can be consulted on the website.
