The next congress of the Business Council Alliance for Ibero-America (CEAPI) will be held this year for the first time in Latin America, specifically in the Dominican Republic.
This was announced yesterday by the president of CEAPI in Galicia, Manuel Rodríguez Vázquez, during a business meeting organized by this institution in Santiago de Compostela, which was attended by the president of the Xunta (regional Government) de Galicia, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, and business leaders from the Ibero-American region.
During the meeting, Feijóo stated that Galicia has exceeded 20 billion euros in exports for the fifth consecutive year -two months before closing 2021- and that in 2020, a very difficult year because of the COVID, the autonomous community was able to realize 8% of the exports of all of Spain. He also explained that the Xunta has launched a Strategy for the Internationalization of Galician Companies (2021-2025) with the aim of promoting the digitization and diversification of exporters and increasing the Galician presence in countries outside the European Union.
“Galicia looks to Ibero-America, ready to offer investment opportunities in the Community and to take advantage for mutual benefit of the opportunities that Ibero-America offers for our business fabric,” said Feijóo. According to the president, Galician exports to Latin America in the first ten months of 2021 exceeded 730 million euros and more than 2,100 companies from the Community exported to some Ibero-American country in the same period.
For his part, the president of CEAPI in Galicia ended the meeting by recalling that the V Ibero-American CEAPI Congress will be held on June 1 and 2, 2022 in the Dominican Republic, which makes this country the first Latin American host of the most important international business meeting in the Ibero-American space.
The last congress of CEAPI – an association formed by 180 Ibero-American businessmen – was held in Madrid in May 2021, inaugurated by the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, and closed by the King. The Dominican Republic will host the XXVIII Ibero-American Summit of Heads of State and Government in November this year.
