Next Thursday 13th January, at 7pm and on the occasion of the celebrations of the Bicentenary of the Independence of Brazil, Casa América presents in its Gabriela Mistral Amphitheatre a piano recital Alma Brasileira by the pianist Sylvia Thereza, who pays tribute to the master Heitor Villa-Lobos.
This concert will offer a small sample of the immense musical richness that has been produced over time in Brazil. Heitor Villa-Lobos was an orchestra conductor and composer of classical music who, drawing from the sources of his country’s folklore, created and developed a classical musical language that was uniquely Brazilian, thus influencing the generations of Brazilian composers who have subsequently succeeded him.
