The Spanish company Indra will be responsible for the renovation of Silogport, the technological platform of the Port of Valparaiso (Chile), with the aim of moving towards a digital port model that takes advantage of new technologies to improve all the processes and respond to the new requirements of the sector.
According to the company, the new platform, which will be deployed in the cloud and will be called Silogport 2021, will be based on the port single window system and its extension to the port community (Port Community System).
Indra explains in a press release that the technology to be implemented allows the different actors and authorities of the port community to interact electronically and declare the information required for a ship’s call at a local port only once.
Silogport 2021 will include advanced technologies, such as artificial intelligence for access control of persons and goods or documentary and operational traceability solutions for the management of transport flows, which will facilitate interoperability between the different units.
The platform will also incorporate the infrastructure oriented towards the port’s logistics operation and systems such as security or customer service, in addition to those that support the ports’ business activity and involve the port community.
It will also provide a layer of cybersecurity that will guarantee the activity of the port installation in the event of a potential risk scenario.
The change, as announced by Indra, will help to reduce 10,000 hours of work each year in the revision of drivers and trucks, minimising the rejection of cargo and creating custody spaces so that carriers can regularise their pending procedures and resolve problems in a convenient and expeditious manner.
Indra recalls that it already helps in the operation of more than 70 ports around the world and that its knowledge of the maritime, port and logistics sector, as well as foreign trade in Latin America is not only evident in the projects the company has developed in Chile. In this region, as it points out, it also has other references such as Peru, Brazil, Uruguay and Panama.
