The Republic of China (Taiwan) welcomes the New Year and bids farewell to 2021 on the night of 31 December with a fireworks, music and light display that will illuminate Taipei 101 -Taiwan’s tallest skyscraper and until 2010 the world’s tallest building- in the traditional sound and light show, which this time is being held under the theme “towards a better future”.
This year, the annual fireworks show at the Taipei 101 skyscraper, which has taken six months of preparation, will consist of a total of 16,000 fireworks, plus an animation, music and light show that will envelop the iconic building in flames, sparkles and sounds for the first six minutes of the year 2022. The show is complemented by a festival of musical performances to be held in Taipei’s City Hall Square.
