Carlos Midence, Nicaraguan Ambassador to Spain and Greece, was appointed last Tuesday 21st December Doctor Honoris Causa by the Universidad Mexicana de Educación a distancia, the Centro Educativo Universitario Morelos, the Universidad Togatorum and the Centro Universitario Inglés, a ceremony which took place in the Chamber of Commerce of Madrid, located in the centrally located Palacio de Santoña.

This distinction, which was awarded by delegation of the above mentioned universities by the Society of International Studies of Spain, has the name: Doctor Honoris Causa Global, Benito Pablo Juárez García, which aims to recognise his career, thought, professionalism and his academic and intellectual work, which covers various disciplines.

The reading of the Laudatio of the Nicaraguan ambassador was made by the renowned Spanish academic Juan Solaeche, Rector Magnificent of the prestigious Society for International Studies, founded in 1934. From Mexico, the ceremony was presided over virtually by Rector Magnificus Carlos Rodríguez Campos. The newly appointed Dr. Carlos Midence, after greeting and thanking, reflected on issues such as the promotion of peace, solidarity and the global common good in international relations and geopolitics, against the backdrop of the coronavirus crisis, climate change and various vectors, actions and movements that have occurred in the contemporary world, but with considerable projection into the future. Topics of great topicality and theoretical and analytical transcendence. An invitation to reconceptualise the notions and terms of the epistemological and geopolitical conversation.
