With the participation of the Foreign Ministers of Spain and Kuwait, the Embassy of this Arab state in Madrid organised on Tuesday a conference to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
The ambassadors of Kuwait, Ayadah Al Saidi, and Spain, Miguel Moro, opened the debate with speeches in which they highlighted the solid strategic partnership between the two countries. In this respect, the head of the Kuwaiti Mission expressed his desire “to keep the effort to deepen these ties“.
For his part, Miguel Moro stressed that, although it has been a complicated year, “it has not been a lost year“, since it has been possible to sign several bilateral agreements, and several official visits have been made, such as those of both ministers and the President of the Kuwaiti National Assembly to Spain.
The Kuwaiti Foreign Minister, Ahmad Nasser Al Sabah, expressed his government’s desire to “support the Spanish market in order to strengthen collaboration with our national oil company“. He also encouraged Spanish companies to “take advantage of the great opportunities” for doing business in Kuwait.
The Spanish Foreign Minister, José Manuel Albares, agreed with his counterpart’s opinion and pointed out that, “in addition to sectors such as water and energy, we should also explore others, such as education, health, food security, cybersecurity, digital transformation, culture and tourism“.
After their speeches, recorded in video clips, discussions began between experts and representatives of official bodies from both sides, divided into four panels: economy, trade, investment and food security; health sector; education and culture; and cybersecurity and digital transformation.
