As part of the series of seminars on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the signing of the Peace Accords in Guatemala, Casa América presents two conferences today from 10.30 am.
The first, The Peace Agreements in Guatemala 25 years later: Balance and implementation and Agenda 2030, will feature José Manuel Martín Medem, RTVE advisor, former correspondent in Latin America; Olinda Salguero, vice-president of the Latin American Presidential Mission; Velia Muralles, Guatemalan documentary expert, participant in legal proceedings for crimes against humanity, and Erik de León, prosecutor of the Special Cases of the Internal Armed Conflict Unit of the Human Rights Prosecutor’s Office of Guatemala. In the second, The Peace Agreements in Guatemala, 25 years later, in the light of the SDGs of the 2030 Agenda, will participate Vinicio Cerezo Arévalo, former President of Guatemala and signatory of the Central American Peace Agreements. President of the Esquipulas Foundation; Pablo Monsanto, former Commander of the URNG (Guatemalan National Revolutionary Unity) and signatory of the Guatemalan Peace Accords; Federico Mayor Zaragoza, former Director-General of UNESCO and President of the Culture of Peace Foundation; and Ana Isabel Prera, former Minister of Culture and former President of the Esquipulas Foundation for Peace, Democracy, Development and Integration of Guatemala. The event will be closed at 13.30 by Ione Belarra Urteaga, Minister for Social Rights and Agenda 2030. Admission by invitation only.
