Twenty years after the death of the Bosnian basketball star Mirza Delibašić, the Embassy of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Centro Sefarad-Israel will remember the life and legacy of this unforgettable athlete on Monday 13 December at 7 p.m. with a talk and a screening of the documentary Shooting for Mirza, which reviews his life and sporting achievements.
Mirza Delibašić’s shooting has scored points for Bosna Sarajevo, for the Yugoslavia national team and also for Real Madrid. With the latter he would go on to win the 1982 Spanish League title, the 1981 World Club Championship and the 1982 Cup Winners’ Cup runner-up spot. But it was not until 1993 that he managed to join the first Bosnian basketball team, despite the difficulties caused by the war in which the country was immersed. Among the friendships he left behind during his time in Spain was that of Juan Antonio Corbalán, who in 2012 published the book Conversaciones con Mizra. Limited capacity. To attend it is necessary to book a place in advance at this link.
