High representatives of Hungary, led by the Ambassador to Spain, Katalin Tóth, have held a meeting with the Chamber of Commerce of Madrid, which have addressed the country’s business opportunities in Smart City and technology industry.

The deputy managing director of the Madrid institution, Elsa Salvadores, led the day in which ties between Spain and Hungary were strengthened and detailed the competitive advantages of the territory for foreign investment.

During the event, the Madrid Chamber of Commerce analyzed the role of Hungary to position itself among the leaders of technological innovation, taking into account that the European country has experienced in recent years a remarkable development in the sector of Smart Cities and new technologies.

Daniel Vinuesa, Deputy Director General for Investment and Talent Attraction of the Madrid City Council, highlighted the importance that Madrid attaches to innovation in order to position itself as a relevant HUB in the European Union with high technological value. “We believe that Madrid, he said, is a space of opportunities for Hungarian companies that want to innovate in the city.

For her part, Katalin Tóth, Ambassador of Hungary, pointed out that Hungary cultivates excellent relations with other countries. She also expressed the hope that “more and more Hungarian companies will locate in Spain”.

The event was also attended by Daniel Lőrincz, Second Head of the Hungarian Embassy, who stressed that with 10 million inhabitants, Hungary has advanced in its technology to become an attractive destination for foreign companies. “We are working, he said, so that Hungarian companies can be present in the Spanish market and to offer business opportunities in Hungary”. In this regard, the competitive advantages offered by the country for companies, such as the infrastructure system, low corporate taxes, favourable business climate and support for foreign direct investment, among other aspects, have played a role.

Finally, Lőrincz revealed that the government is doing an important job in making foreign companies prosper in their business. And for this, “effective communication between government and business is needed to make companies investing in the country feel at home”.
