In collaboration with the television channel Arte and Another Way Film Festival, the Instituto Francés in Madrid is screening this evening at 8 p.m. the documentary Planète Méditerranée, by Gil Kebaïli.
This film highlights the exceptional underwater mission undertaken by biologist and underwater photographer Laurent Ballesta and three other experienced divers between Marseille and Monaco. For twenty-eight days, the divers were confined to a 5-square-metre chamber in order to explore the 100-metre deep zone with no time limit, and thus reveal the natural treasures of the little-known depths of the Mediterranean. This human, technical and scientific challenge was driven by the desire of an adventurous researcher who never ceases to push the limits of diving, to make a hitherto unattainable dream come true: to explore the deep sea in freedom for hours at a time. This expedition, christened Gombessa V, mobilised a team of thirty experienced professionals over two years of intense preparation and a total of four hundred hours of diving. This film retraces the collective epic, day by day, through dazzling images. Tickets can be purchased at this link.
