Tomorrow Thursday at 6 p.m., as part of the Palestine Week organised by Casa Árabe on the occasion of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, journalist Ramzy Baroud (pictured) will be giving a conference entitled Unity and resistance, towards a Palestinian transition?
Ramzy Baroud, Palestinian-American and editor of The Palestine Chronicle, will talk about the Spring of 2021, East Jerusalem: outbreaks of youth violence at Damascus Gate escalate with evictions of Palestinian residents in the Sheikh Jarrah neighbourhood. The mainstream international media echo these final days of Ramadan as an apparent “escalation of violence” takes on political dimensions in Gaza and the West Bank, but also with the 1948 Palestinians in Israel. These events have accelerated a resistance movement that seeks a change in society, not only against the Israeli occupation and its successive annexations, but also against the factionalism of Palestinian politics. What is the nature of the new Palestinian resistances today, who are their main protagonists, what are the challenges they face and what are their prospects for success? The conference can also be followed on Casa Árabe’s YouTube channel (in Spanish and English).
