The seminar Relaunching relations between Latin America and the European Union: strategic autonomy, advanced cooperation and digital, green and social recovery is taking place today and tomorrow at Casa América, starting at 9 a.m.
Relations between the European Union (EU) and Latin America and the Caribbean have a long history, and, in particular, more than two decades have passed since the first EU-Latin America and the Caribbean Summit (Rio de Janeiro, 28-29 June 1999), which established a “bi-regional strategic partnership” with three pillars: high-level political dialogue (Summits of Heads of State and Government and other bodies), advanced development co-operation and trade and investment promotion through a network of “Association Agreements” which, if the EU-Mercosur Agreement is ratified, will cover most of the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean.
