The Diplomat
Muhammad Najib has been appointed Indonesia’s new ambassador to Spain, filling the vacancy left a year ago by Hermono Hermono, who took over his country’s embassy in Malaysia.
The new ambassador, 61, is an electronics engineer and has been active in Indonesian politics as a member of the National Mandate Party, for which he has served as a member of the Indonesian Parliament.
Muhammad Najib has also, on several occasions, expressed his views on Islam, and recently stated that Indonesia’s Islam, which he said is “moderate and tolerant”, can become an instrument of diplomacy.
The new ambassador will shortly present his Style Copies to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and will await the presentation of Letters of Credence to His Majesty the King.
