After many postponements due to Covid-19, the wonderful feature-length documentary Hermitage Museum: The Power of Art, directed by Michele Mally and starring the renowned actor Toni Servillo, is finally coming to Spanish cinemas.
This documentary film was made in full collaboration with the State Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg and its director Mikhail Piotrovsky, to tell the story of the museum in a new and exciting way, through the centuries of Russian history and the cultural events that led to the development of its collections in the heart of the city. A film documentary dedicated to St. Petersburg, to its Museum and to the story of the many people who lived there for centuries surrounded by art, literature, music and poetry.
Actor Toni Servillo is the guide on this journey, allowing us to breathe the essence and Baltic spirit of these places, presenting the beauty of the Hermitage and the city of St. Petersburg, reciting excerpts from poems and novels, telling the great stories that have taken place in these streets, from its foundation by Peter I the Great to the splendour of Catherine the Great, through the victory of Alexander I of Russia against Napoleon, the Revolution of 1917, and up to the present day.
