On the occasion of the Hungarian V4 Presidency, the travelling photography exhibition of New Visegrád Photography, recognised in the field of photography as a “brand” of its own, which has already visited several major cities around the world, such as Vienna, Berlin, Tel Aviv and New York, will be on display at the Hungarian Consulate General in Barcelona from 30 November to 4 December.
The exhibition is a unique initiative, presenting a selection of works by an outstanding group of recent graduates from art universities in the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia. The show focuses on questions of their own identities: some through personal or family histories, others through the context of the wider social or historical environment of Central and Eastern Europe. Recurring themes of the photographs involve female roles, internal and external expectations towards women, inspiration from the traditions of the region, social photography and the so-called New Formalism, which questions the compatibility of technologically based images with reality and the reality validated by habitual perspectives. Photos by artists Vera a Fehér, Anna Albert, Gábor Baksa, Viktória Balogh, Antal Bánhegyesy and others will be on display.
