King Philip VI and Queen Letizia arrived yesterday in Sweden for their second state trip since the beginning of the pandemic and the first one by a Spanish King and Queen to the Nordic country since 42 years ago.
The King and Queen, who are in Sweden at the invitation of King Carl XVI Gustaf, are accompanied by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, José Manuel Albares; the Minister of Science and Innovation, Diana Morant; and the Secretary of State for Trade, Xiana Méndez.
The official agenda of the trip will take place between today and tomorrow, with an official welcoming ceremony at the Royal Palace in Stockholm, and meetings with the acting Prime Minister of Sweden, Stefan Löfven, and the President of the Swedish Parliament, Andreas Norlén, in addition to various cultural, scientific, technological and business activities, a gala dinner hosted by the King and Queen of Sweden and a lunch hosted by the Stockholm City Council.
Yesterday, Philip VI and Queen Letizia received at the Residence of the Spanish Embassy in Sweden the Spanish community residing in the Nordic country. “To all of you, those of you who have been there longer and those of you who are still looking for your place in this new land of welcome, we would like to send you a message of support, because you represent, outside our borders, much of the best of our country,” said Philip VI during the meeting.
