Tomorrow Wednesday at 7 p.m., Casa Mediterráneo presents the documentary film Francisco Albo: Greek sailors in the first round-the-world voyage, an event that will be attended by its director, Pedro Olalla.
A rigorous documentary in which, through a fictional narrative approach, the allegorical character of History “interrogates”, on the islands of Rhodes and Chios, the little known Greek pilot, Francisco Albo, who managed to bring back to Spain the only ship that survived the First Round the World Race and who bequeathed to the future the nautical diary of that singular expedition.
This event is part of the celebrations of the V Centenary of the First Round the World Race, which the Spanish Embassy in Greece and the Instituto Cervantes in Athens have been holding since 2019, with the aim – in line with their mission as Spanish diplomatic and cultural institutions present in the Hellenic country – of strengthening and raising awareness of the historical links that unite both countries, and highlighting, on this unique occasion, the substantial contribution of the expert Greek navigators to the rich history of Spanish overseas discoveries.
