This evening at 8 p.m., the Instituto Francés of Madrid will screen the film Pierrot the Madman, directed in 1965 by Jean-Luc Godard, with Jean-Paul Belmondo, Anna Karina and Samuel Fuller as the main actors. The screening will be in the original version with Spanish subtitles.
The film tells how Ferdinand Griffon lives with his wife and children. He is a bit disillusioned because he has just lost his job in television. One night, after returning from an unpleasant social evening at his in-laws’ house, he realises that the nanny who has come to look after his children is an old friend, Marianne. He decides to leave everything behind and go with her to the South of France, on a journey that will involve arms trafficking, political plots, incongruous encounters, but also bucolic break-ups and heartbreak.
