International Congress on African Cultural Heritage at Casa África

Casa África is organising the 1st International Congress on Atlantic African Cultural Heritage and Afro-descendancy, directed by Dr. Germán Santana Pérez, from the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, with the collaboration of Idalmy González González. It is free entry and will take place in Casa África today and tomorrow following the programme that is broken down in this link and can also be followed through the cultural institution’s networks on Facebook and YouTube.

African cultural heritage is, in general, little known beyond the UNESCO World Heritage Site. However, it is much richer and more varied than architecture, sculpture, painting or intangible heritage. Historical documentation, photography, cinema, cartography, linguistic contributions, etc. are also part of this contribution. African world heritage is present in most African countries and has been increasingly recognised in recent years. However, there is a long list of cultural heritage that is also worth preserving and enhancing.
